De Nederlandse investeerder Louis Reijtenbagh heeft een schikking getroffen met JPMorgan Chase. Daarmee heeft de familie Reijtenbagh haar dure kunstcollectie terug en haar appartement in New York. De bank claimt niet langer het schilderij De Gouden Bocht van Berckheyde, dat Reijtenbagh had verkocht aan het Rijksmuseum.

27 september 2009“Orientalism” is not the issue—we have art all of our own. There is no denying that western tastes have lent towards “orientalism” and that there is a plethora of artists in the Middle East willing to satisfy these tastes, but there is more to the story than that. Scanning some of the modern and contemporary Middle Eastern artists, where are the “orientalist flourishes” in the work of, say, Mona Hatoum, Dia al-Azzawi, Adel Abdessemed, Walid Raad or Emily Jacir? Those “flourishes” are not in the up-and-coming works of Rokni Haerizadeh, Youssef Nabil, Ahmed Alsoudani or Ghada Amer either.
Schilderij gestolen uit huis van Magritte – Volkskrant

New evidence uncovered in Warhol Foundation lawsuit – The Art Newspaper
18 september 2009Lawyers for the plaintiff say disputed portrait was considered authentic by the artist himself. The federal lawsuit in which a private collector is suing the Andy Warhol Foundation and its subsidiary Art Authentication Board is about to take a dramatic turn. Lawyers for plaintiff Joe Simon-Whelan have uncovered evidence that the 1964 Warhol self-portrait that he owns, and which the Authentication Board has twice rejected, was considered authentic by Warhol himself.
